In my book, I share what true leadership really means – and my goal is to empower people to write their own success stories.

When I began my career at Engel & Völkers, the most important items in my office were a fax machine and a photocopier, which I used to manually compile property exposés. 27 years later, I’ve achieved what many dream of: starting out as a trainee, I’ve had the privilege of building a remarkable career in the real estate industry and working my way up to the top of the company. I took on responsibility early and always acted with an entrepreneurial mindset within the organization. My personal masterpiece was building up Engel & Völkers’ international franchise business. From the first steps in Mallorca to the expansion into the United States, I helped shape the company’s trajectory by opening new markets with courage, foresight, and hard work.

In my book, I explore what true leadership is really about – and I want to encourage and empower people to write their own success stories. My credo: People don’t follow brands or companies – people follow people!

I am convinced that a high-performance corporate culture can only thrive if it is exemplified by leadership every single day. I share my experiences openly and honestly – how I dealt with crises, why corporate culture is the key to sustainable success, and how real change becomes possible through courageous leadership.

During my time at Engel & Völkers, I not only significantly expanded the international business but also established a new style of leadership – one based on equality, with people at the center.

My journey is a good example of how far you can go with initiative, perseverance, and belief in your own vision. Rigid hierarchies were never my thing – instead, I relied on entrepreneurial thinking and taking ownership within the organization. This mindset not only shaped me, but also supported Engel & Völkers on its path to becoming one of the most well-known premium brands in the real estate segment.

In my book, I share personal experiences, formative encounters, and practical insights for modern leadership. I speak openly about challenges, setbacks – and the importance of growing through them. To me, one thing is clear: leadership is not a title, it’s a mindset. Anyone who wants to inspire people today needs a true sense of purpose, emotional intelligence, and the willingness to not only demand a strong company culture, but to actively lead by example.
