Als ich meine Karriere bei Engel & Völkers begann, waren die wichtigsten Gegenstände in meinem Büro ein Faxgerät und ein Fotokopierer, mit dem ich händisch Exposés zusammenstellen musste. 27 Jahre später habe ich das geschafft, wovon viele träumen: Als Auszubildender gestartet, durfte ich eine bemerkenswerte Laufbahn in der Immobilienbranche durchlaufen und mich bis an die Spitze des Unternehmens hocharbeiten. Ich habe früh Verantwortung übernommen und stets als Unternehmer im Unternehmen gehandelt. Mein persönliches Meisterstück war der Aufbau des internationalen Lizenzgeschäfts von Engel & Völkers. Von den ersten Schritten auf Mallorca bis hin zur Expansion in die USA habe ich mit Mut, Weitblick und harter Arbeit neue Märkte erschlossen und so die Entwicklung des Unternehmens maßgeblich geprägt.

In my book, I explore what true leadership is really about – and I want to encourage and empower people to write their own success stories. My credo: People don’t follow brands or companies – people follow people!

I am convinced that a high-performance corporate culture can only thrive if it is exemplified by leadership every single day. I share my experiences openly and honestly – how I dealt with crises, why corporate culture is the key to sustainable success, and how real change becomes possible through courageous leadership.

I stand for entrepreneurial courage, authenticity, and a clear stance. In an industry shaped by fierce competition and constant change, it has always been important to me to create lasting values. My recipe for success: trust, reliability, and the conviction that long-term success is only possible through strong collaboration. During my time at Engel & Völkers, I not only significantly expanded the international business but also established a new style of leadership – one based on equality, with people at the center.

My journey is a good example of how far you can go with initiative, perseverance, and belief in your own vision. Rigid hierarchies were never my thing – instead, I relied on entrepreneurial thinking and taking ownership within the organization. This mindset not only shaped me, but also supported Engel & Völkers on its path to becoming one of the most well-known premium brands in the real estate segment.

In my book, I share personal experiences, formative encounters, and practical insights for modern leadership. I speak openly about challenges, setbacks – and the importance of growing through them. To me, one thing is clear: leadership is not a title, it’s a mindset. Anyone who wants to inspire people today needs a true sense of purpose, emotional intelligence, and the willingness to not only demand a strong company culture, but to actively lead by example.
